What should be the colours of Gnome-Terminal?

While clearing out the big pile of emails today, I came across this huge discussion on ubuntu-dev -discuss list about the colours of gnome-terminal. Honestly, I never thought this could be a point of discussion at all , but I was wrong. This article is just a brief summary of that discussion. This might not look of any use but its always good(and a little fun) to know other's opinion about such issues.

Gnome Nanny, a Parental Control System for Linux

I am not in favour of monitored or filtered Internet at all. I love Internet the way it is and I hate if someone tries to censor it. But we have to admit that there is a lot of bad stuff on the Internet that you definitely don't want little kids to come across. Gnome Nanny is a parental control system build for this purpose. Not just the websites, it can also be used to monitor and control the time spent on web or chatting.

Switching through them can be done easily using the usual <Alt>Tab shortcut but backward switching is disabled by default in Ubuntu. And its pretty hard to work with a lot of windows if you only have one-sided switching. In this tip I will tell you how to tweak your gnome settings to enable this feature.

Arista, a Multimedia transcoder for GNOME Desktop

Today a friend of mine asked me to suggest him some good video converters in Linux. Support Gnome by shopping at Amazon.com

Yes, its true. Install the Amazon GNOME Search Plugin in your Browser and when you search using this plugin to buy stuff at Amazon.com, GNOME Foundation gets a referral fee. This plugin was launched about 2 months ago. The GNOME Foundation earned a reasonable amount in this time and they are looking for more support from the fans.

How to make gnome-dictionary work offline

So, I guess I was wrong about gnome-dictionary, it can be configured to work offline . All you have to do to make it work is, install the server packages, some dictionaries, a little tweaking in the configuration and there is your gnome-dictionary working in offline mode. It might not provide all the features of stardict but it does the job.

Emerillon Map Viewer
