Ubuntu 8.04.4 LTS, the fourth maintenance update released

The Ubuntu team has announced the release of 8.04.4 LTS, the fourth maintenance update of Ubuntu 8.04 LTS series. Ubuntu 8.04, Hardy Heron will be supported with maintenance updates and security fixes  until April 2011 for desktops and April 2013 for server editions. But this is the last maintenance release for the Ubuntu 8.04 LTS series.

More than 70 updates have been added and some installation bugs have been fixed since the last release. Some of the important updates are, the CD ISO contents can now be used to work with USB device, grub installation support for JFS file systems, firefox crashing problem has been fixed, an updated version of Pidgin is backported.
