Ubuntu 10.10 codename announced: Maverick Meerkat

Mark Shuttleworth announced in his blog the mascot for Ubuntu 10.10. Its going to be Maverick Meerkat. As Mark said in his blog, Meerkat are light, social and fast and this is what they are looking forward to in the perfect Ubuntu 10.10.

The Ubuntu community has always been one of the biggest part of Ubuntu's success and keeping that in mind Mark wants to focus more on including the social features in Maverick, so that we can be even more tightly connected. As stated by Mark:

They are also clever – meerkats teach one another new skills. And that’s what makes this such a great community.

No doubt about that, Ubuntu community has always been a wonderful family helping each other out. UbuntuForums and the IRC support channels are places where you can see that.
