Gimp 2.8 scheduled to release at the end of 2010

GIMP's developer, Martin Nordholts aka Enselic, has announced the release of GIMP 2.8 on 27th Dec this year. The schedule is not really fixed, its an estimated release date. This new release promises to have a lot of new features along with the major advantage of a single window mode which has been a long-standing complaint by many users for this great tool.

This single window mode seems to be a major improvement in GIMP. According to the developers, the implementation of the single window mode is progressing well. Here are some of the mock ups of GIMP in single window mode.
